Chapter Eighteen

Red.

That’s what color my vision was. I thought I had dealt with my demons. At least where they resolved around Sky. Having her back here with us has been a test of our sanities. Gunner isn’t the same as he once was. Something happened between the two of them and they have been almost amicable. When I tried to press him about it he shut me down immediately saying nothing was going on. I don’t believe him, but it’s not worth the time or effort. Or I didn’t think that it was. After seeing Freddy’s arms wrapped around Sky, I almost intervened.

I thought we had taken care of his little sexual harassment issues last year. That was a huge lawsuit waiting to happen. Thankfully, our crew member didn’t take it out on the band. They knew we had no control over Freddy; that was all the record company. He was supposed to be in therapy or whatever people go to for issues like his. It was that or jail. We didn’t give him another choice. I guess he thought he could get away with it again with Sky

That definitely isn’t going to happen.

The second Sky yelled at Freddy and stormed away, my feet were moving. My mind was so lost, swimming with my thoughts full of anger and what I would do if I had to continue to stand there with the bastard that I walked away. I knew my brothers would handle it how they saw fit. I couldn’t deal with it right now.

Coming to a stop, my feet led me to the last place I thought I’d ever be again. Outside Sky’s dressing room. She had stormed off in this direction, but if one of her bodyguards wasn’t standing outside, there was a good chance she wasn’t inside. Knowing she’d rip me a new one for stepping into her personal space, I opened the door to her room and walked right in. A breath of relief left my lips when I saw no one was inside. I shouldn’t be here, I know that. Sky hated me, hated all of us and I can’t say it wasn’t mutual because it was.

In and out. That’s all I needed to get over whatever these thoughts were. Sky never needed to know I was in here. No one did.

Perusing around the room, I took in what little she had. Normally, Sky traveled with set outfits and multiple guitars. There was almost nothing in the room. Not even the makeup I had grown used to seeing set up all those years ago. Her guitar case lay open and empty on the coffee table and I caught a duffle bag full of clothes sitting on the couch. Nothing else.

As I turned to leave the room, a white piece of paper sitting neatly in the center of her guitar case caught my eye. It’s a weird place to have a piece of paper, especially one folded like a tent. Curiosity getting the better of me, I took several steps forward to see the paper.
